Did Deputy Nardiello exceed his authority?

MERRY CHRISTMAS
From the VCSO

On December 24, 2006 - both Karl Rommel and his brother-in-law, Brian Dial were arrested by the VCSO.

Mr. Rommel was arrested under the charge of obstruction of justice, while Mr. Dial was arrested for illegal usage of the county's 911 system.

Recently, some senior members of the VCSO administration have advised us, that we do not present a fair or accurate account in our articles regarding the VCSO.

So, in this article, we are going to allow two documents, written by VCSO investigators, and / or other county officials to detail the events of December 24, 2006.

OUR OBSERVATIONS, CONCERNS AND QUESTIONS

Does page 6 of the Internal Affairs report indicate that Investigator Nardiello exceeded his lawful authority in the arrest of Mr. Rommel?

Does page 2 of the County Council Agenda, indicate that Mr. Dial was arrested because he attempted to call a VCSO supervisor, to alert the supervisor, that Investigator Nardiello was exceeding his law enforcement authority in the arrest of Mr. Rommel?

According to the County Council Agenda item, the taxpayers paid out a settlement of $10,000 each to Mr. Rommel and Mr. Dial. As a taxpayer, how does that make you feel?

While the arrests of Mr. Rommel and Mr. Dial, may or may not have affected their career opportunities, Investigator Nardiello's career opportunities with the VCSO have flourished. At last check, Investigator Nardiello maintains the ranking of lieutenant with the VCSO.

DID A CONFLICT OF INTEREST
INFLUENCE THE JAIL'S
RAPE INVESTIGATION?

Assistant County Attorney, Nancye Jones handles many of the litigations coming out of the Volusia County jail.

Nancye Jones' husband, VCSO Major Robert Jones, supervises the deputies that investigate possible criminal violations within the county jail.

We have concerns that several criminal investigations have been possibly manipulated, in order to reduce the County of Volusia's civil liability.

Our concern includes this particular in-custody sexual battery investigation, and the below listed situations.

We invite you to review our concerns.
