Sheriff Ivey's Past
Problems With Charities

As was detailed within our March 21, 2019 article Sheriff Wayne Ivey's involvement in local charities organizations was of significant mention within a recently filed federal indictment.

The indictment alleges that Florida businessman, Donald Donagher, Jr. through his company PENN CREDIT was attempting or actively bribing several county Clerk of The Court offices throughout the country.

According to the indictment, PENN CREDIT had (has) contractual agreements with several Clerk's offices to be their collections service provider, including the Brevard County Clerk of the Court.

As is outline in pages 13-14 of the indictment Donagher was using Sheriff Ivey as his conduit for making donations to local Brevard charities. Also stated within those same pages is Donagher's request of Sheriff ivey, that he (Ivey) reach out to newly elected Clerk of the Court, Scott Ellis - and tell him (Ellis) that Donagher was "a good guy". This publication has confirmed that Mr. Ellis was contacted by Sheriff Ivey regarding Mr. Donagher's wishes.

It's unfortunate for Sheriff Ivey, that per the indictment, one of Mr. Donagher's alleged bribery vehicles were charitable donations. Other bribery vehicles allegedly used by Mr. Donagher in his attempts to entice Mr. Ellis, were the promises of campaign contributions, and a fully subsidized picnic for the Clerk's office (see page 9 of the indictment)

This publication is happy to report - that Mr. Ellis did NOT accept any of Donagher's "gifts" (AKA "bribes"), nor did Ellis renew his predecessor's contract with PENN CREDIT.

Problems With Charities

Now, according to a recent FloridaToday.Com article Sheriff Ivey finds himself in yet another vat of boiling political oil regarding his very own Brevard County Sheriff's Office Charity organization.

The FloridaToday.Com article alleges that "Florida regulators are investigating the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Charity for holding its premier annual Dancing For The Space Coast fundraiser.....despite a state administrative order for the nonprofit to "cease and desist" soliciting donations".

Apparently, State regulators alleged that the charity failed to renew its registration with the state. Sheriff Ivey denied that the charity organization was out of compliance with state regulations. However, "Charles Nash, the lawyer for the sheriff's office charity, said it did miss a filing deadline because the nonprofit had undergone a change in executive directors in December 2018".

This publication (VolusiaExposed.com) questions why Sheriff Ivey couldn't admit to the filing deadline error? Then again, BCSO Deputy Jason Roberts, during a sworn deposition, allegedly didn't remember his extensive disciplinary history with the BCSO. Maybe, it's a BCSO thing - to lie, deny, forget, and commit perjury?
