SHERIFF CHITWOOD TO MEET WITH HOUSE SPEAKER PAUL RYAN REGARDING DE-ESCALATION TACTICS FOR AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT


Volusia County Sheriff Michael J. Chitwood is heading to Janesville, Wisconsin, on Monday along with several American police chiefs to meet with House Speaker Paul Ryan and discuss de-escalation tactics for law enforcement officers in potentially deadly situations.

Monday's meeting will include Janesville Police Chief David Moore, New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison, Camden County, N.J., Police Chief J. Scott Thomson, Burlington, Vt., Police Chief Brandon del Pozo, Tucson, Ariz., Police Chief Chris Magnus and Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum.
