Why will Governor Scott authorize FDLE to investigate the FAMU death,
where only suspicion of foul play exist,
but his staff insist that FDLE does not have the authority to investigate in-custody jail deaths, where clear evidence exists that documents were falsified?

Early in November 2011, VolusiaExposed.Com once again contacted the Florida Governor's office regarding having the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate several questionable in-custody deaths at the Volusia County jail.

We had one of our representatives talk with Warren Davis, a ranking aid to Governor Rick Scott, regarding our concerns.

Mr. Davis advised us that FDLE did not have the authority to investigate this types of deaths, and recommended that we contact the Volusia County Sheriff's office. Mr. Davis was made aware of our concerns, that the VCSO might have a serious conflict of interest regarding their investigations into these deaths. Regardless, Mr. Davis had little to no regard for our concerns.

It is interesting, that when we request that the FDLE look into several questionable deaths at a county jail, it is alleged, by the governor's office, that FDLE has no authority to investigate. However, here recently a Florida A&M University student died in a suspected hazing incident and the Governor of Florida has little reservations in sending a letter to the FDLE Commissioner authorizing that FDLE investigate.

So, why will the governor's office authorize FDLE to investigate the student's death, but lie about whether FDLE even has the authority to investigate the in-custody deaths? Remember, FDLE did not initially wish to investigate the Volusia County Beach Patrol scandal. But once they were forced to, at least one Beach Patrol officer was arrested for engaging in underage sex, and Volusia County is now the defendant in federal lawsuits over several officers allegedly engaging in underage sex.

Let this web page (as well as others) stand as testament that Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are well aware of our concerns surrounding the Volusia County Jail and the VCSO.

We invite you to review the below web links that provide further supportive information and evidence regarding our concerns.
