Last week the employees within the Volusia County Division of Emergency Medical Services (formerly EVAC) voted to unionize.

The employees are not represented by the International Association of EMTs and Paramedics.

Within the below media article, the union identified the lack of proper staffing as a problem that they intended to address with county officials.

Bryan Hamrick, an official from the union stated, "They're running short staff right now, where they're mandating people to work overtime shifts."
